To offer a free, accessible program in the Edmonton area (Goldbar Park) teaching children with special needs or coordination challenges how to ride a two-wheeled bicycle.
Accessibility (You Can Bike Too!)
To create an adapted bicycle loan pool to benefit children in Edmonton and surrounding areas.
Special thanks goes out to President’s Choice Children’s Charity for their generous donation of several bikes and hand cycles to get this initiative up and running!
To investigate best practices when teaching children how to ride a two wheeled bicycle.
We are STILL RECRUITING children aged 8-14 with a mild cognitive delay who would like to learn to ride!
To offer “Train the trainer” workshops in order to share the tools and resources developed in our course with other professionals and experts across the country that they might offer a similar program in their own communities.
To develop materials and a website so that information can be shared with families and between professionals interested in supporting children with this important skill
To provide information on standard bikes, adapted bikes, glide bikes, tandems, trailers and cycling aids and share parent recommendations.
